Capitol SAF Chapter Virtual Meeting - After the Fires, Next Steps for BLM

At the OSAF Capitol Chapter virtual meeting, Abe will discuss the impacts of the Labor Day Fires on BLM lands, along with the BLM timber salvage and hazard tree removal operations in western Oregon and how it all relates to the O&C lands and the 2016 RMP.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 27, at 4:30 p.m. (PDT)

Join us on Wednesday, May 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm, for "Fire Adapted in Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley: A Virtual Film Screening + Panel Discussion." This free virtual screening of The West is Burning will be offered to the broader community, followed by a panel discussion of local forest and fire professionals to share how different techniques are being be used to better prepare and protect our community surrounding fire-adapted ecosystems. Portland SAF Virtual Chapter Meeting - The International Society of Tropical Foresters and Carbon Market Access

This month features two presentations. Michael Sterner with El Programa Hispano Catolico will discuss the re-emergence of the International Society of Tropical Foresters and its relevance to Oregon Society of American Foresters. Afterwards, Sean Hart, with Forest Carbon Works will discuss carbon market access for private woodland owners in the United States.

Blue Mountain Virtual SAF Chapter Meeting - Forest Carbon Works

For the Blue Mountain chapter's April meeting, we will be joined by Sean Hart, regional forester for Forest Carbon Works. Sean will discuss carbon market access for private woodland owners and highlighting some of their projects on the east-side. Forest Carbon Works (FCW) is a public benefit company working to distill the complex processes for developing a carbon project into a simple membership service, creating easy access to the carbon market for private woodland owners throughout the US.

Umpqua SAF Virtual Chapter Meeting - Fire Season Forecast 2021 and National Board Update

The Umpqua SAF chapter's April meeting features two speakers: Nick Yonker will give a presentation titled "Fire Season Forecast 2021," and Mark Buckbee will give a presentation titled "National Board of Directors Report." Nick is Oregon Department of Forestry's Meteorology and Smoke Management Program Manager. Mark Buckbee is a board member who represents District 2.
