Central Oregon Virtual SAF Chapter Meeting - Oregon's Smoke Management for Prescribed & Wildland Fires.

For the Central Oregon SAF chapter's April meeting, Margaret Miller from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will present on Oregon's Smoke Management for Prescribed & Wildland Fires. Margaret is also a member of the Portland SAF chapter.

2021 Northwest Active Management Blue Mountain Field Visit - Postponed

This field visit is a great opportunity to learn about active forest management and shared stewardship on federal, state, tribal, and private forest lands of eastern Oregon and interact with forestry students. Blue Mountain Chapter Meeting - Learn about the American Forest Resource Council

For the Blue Mountain chapter's meeting, we will be joined by Sara Ghafouri, staff attorney at the American Forest Resource Council. She will provide a summary of AFRC's legal program and how it works, including who, when, and why they engage in certain legal issues, as well as highlight a couple of cases.

Capitol Virtual Chapter Meeting - Fire & Community: A Large Landowner’s Perspective

For OSAF's Capitol Chapter meeting, Jill Bell will share how Weyerhaeuser responded to the Labor Day 2020 fires in Oregon, including the impact the fires had on the communities where they operate and how they have contributed back to the devastated communities. In addition, she will highlight how Weyerhaeuser is moving forward with salvage operations and a plan to reforest their ownership within the fire footprints from the Riverside, Beachie Creek, Holiday Farm, and Archie Creek fires.

Portland SAF Virtual Chapter Meeting - Current and projected future recreation use on public and private lands

The Portland SAF Chapter's Virtual meeting will feature Eric White, a research social scientist with the USFS PNW Research Station, discussing the current and projected future recreation use on public and private lands.

All foresters and their guests are invited regardless of SAF membership!

Portland Chapter Virtual Meeting - Invasion of the Aliens: Identifying and Controlling Invasive Vegetation in Pacific Northwest Forests

The Portland SAF Chapter's Virtual meeting will feature a discussion on "Invasion of the Aliens: Identifying and Controlling Invasive Vegetation in Pacific Northwest Forests." Umpqua Chapter Virtual Meeting - Disaster Assessment and Recovery for Forestland Owners

The Umpqua Chapter meeting will feature a panel discussion that includes Heather Whitman with BLM on post-disaster assessment, Brennan Garrelts with Lone Rock Timber on salvage, and Charley Moyer with Roseburg on reforestation and the challenges faced following the September 2020 wildfires.

Blue Mountain Chapter Virtual Meeting - OSU Extension Fire Program

For the Blue Mountain Chapter's February meeting, John Rizza, who is the new fire specialist for the Northeast Oregon Region of the new OSU Extension Fire Program, will tell us a little bit about the new Fire Program. John has been busy meeting folks in NE Oregon and is excited to meet and talk with those of us involved with SAF.
